О событии

The American story has many authors, and on November 5, Makers of a Nation introduces one of them: Kaa,laa Mary Goddard, a Tlingit artist, filmmaker, and cultural educator from Sitka, Alaska. The Tlingit are an Indigenous people of Southeast Alaska, and for thousands of years they have passed down their history through stories, carving, and life on the land. Mary's film The Woman Who Married a Bear brings an ancient legend to life in Lingít, the Tlingit language, with Native actors. She spent ninety days eating only what she could fish, forage, or hunt, and she carves Tlingit designs into copper, silver, and gold and weaves in spruce root.
